The towers are maybe the most characteristic attraction in Bologna. No wonder then that the city is also known as the turrita (the turreted). Riding on your bike, Walk ‘n Ride’s tour will tell you the story of their erection and take you to admire the still standing towers in the city.

Description

Bologna’s skyline starts to change in the XII century, when every noble family decides to build its own tower and the challenge for the highest one begins. Soon the city turns into what has been called a “jungle of towers”.

During the tour you will discover the about 20 remaining towers that have survived the passing of time, among which the famous Two Towers, Garisenda and Asinelli. You will ride along the city also in search of the medieval courtyards hidden in the urban context of Bologna, where defensive towers, towerhouses and turrets are perfectly embedded.

The wonders of this tour continue with the visit to an exclusive, privately owned and well-preserved medieval tower, Torre Prendiparte, from where you will enjoy a breathtaking view of Bologna. On the tower terrace it is possible to arrange an aperitivo or a toast on request, while admiring the city from the heights.
