Itinerary completely done on tarmac, advised only for trained cyclists. The meeting point is Palazzo di Varignana, where a quick briefing with our certified MTB Guide will take place. This briefing will outline eventual dangers and risks and the required behaviour and performance along the tour, as well as some safety tips.

Leaving Palazzo di Varignana we’ll start pedaling towards Casalecchio dei Conti, passing through Liano and Castel San Pietro Terme, where we’ll stop coming back, and reaching Dozza, famous for its “Painted walls” where every house is an piece of artwork. Inside Dozza’s “La Rocca”, seat of the “’Enoteca Regionale dell’Emilia Romagna”, (Regional Wineshop of Emilia Romagna).
Leaving the hills behind us we’ll ride North reaching the meadows and after just a few kilometres we’ll arrive in Castel Guelfo, where the ancient walls and its 4 towers are still visible. We’ll then ride back towards Castel San Pietro T., cross the cobbled main street and ride under its tower, Torre del Cassero, stopping in Piazza XX Settembre, its main square to admire the Cathedral, Chiesa del Crocifisso.
Here we’ll decide whereas to ride a few more kilometres on the Via Emilia to return to Palazzo di Varignana, on flat land, or try a new itinerary across the hills.
Sport and comfortable clothing. Patched trousers, cycling gloves, sunglasses and light jacket are suggested
Bring a backpack for the jacket, water and food bars
