This itinerary takes place along the hills between Castel S. Pietro Terme and Dozza. The meeting and starting point is at the Train Station of Castel S. Pietro Terme where a quick briefing with our certified MTB Guide will take place. This briefing will outline eventual dangers and risks and the required behaviour and safety rules to follow during the tour.
You’ll ride on back roads with little car traffic and cross the Sillaro River, a natural border between Emilia and Romagna. Your first stop will be in Toscanella, followed by the medieval hamlet of Dozza, famous for its renowned bi-annual 'festival of the painted wall'.

This colourful Tour takes you to discover Dozza, one of the most beautiful villages of Italy, along the historical and cultural border between Emilia and Romagna, where local people are very proud of their origins. The meeting point is at the Castel S. Pietro Terme’s Railway station, an easy point to reach from everywhere. Here, you’ll meet your local Mountain bike Guide.
Ride through the countryside using back roads, with a first stop, in Toscanella, to admire the modern version of the famous “painted Walls”. Afterwards, you’ll start your climb towards the ancient hamlet of Dozza. At Dozza’s historical town centre you’ll enjoy some free time. You may wish to visit its castle, the Rocca Sforzesca with the Enoteca Regionale where you can find any kind of regional wines. You will enjoy a stroll through its narrow lanes and admire the paintings which embellish its walls. And then, time for lunch! Local products, farm-to-table delicacies and local wines await you! If you’d rather enjoy a vegan or vegetarian lunch, don’t hesitate to contact us, we’ll provide for it!
After lunch you’ll head back towards Castel S. Pietro Terme’s Railway Station, choosing between 2 different routes: a short climb of about 2 km to get to Monte del Re, a natural terrace over the Padan Plain, or a shorter, flat and easier return
Sport and comfortable clothing. Patched trousers, cycling gloves, sunglasses and light jaccket are suggested
